Minutes of the Meeting of the Board

September 10, 2003, 7:00 p.m.

 

 

Attendees:    Jan Avilla, Linda Drey-Nightingale, Julie Duncan, Dave Lowin, Peri Nielsen, Rebecca Reynolds, Gale Smith, Jamie Sovereign, Armin Staprans, Marguerite Thayer. Linda led the meeting.

 

Public Comment: None.

 

Treasurer’s Report:           Julie Duncan, the LTWCA Treasurer, gave the Treasurer’s Report.

 

Fall Picnic: The Board discussed the responsibilities and agenda for the fall picnic, which will take place on Sunday, September 21, 2003 at 3:30 p.m. at the home of Joan and Nelson Dake, 1074 LTR. The picnic will begin with a presentation by John McClenahan regarding the health, care and treatment of our trees. Then, the community will vote on the members of the LTWCA Board for 2004/2005. After that, we will formally recognize Carol Wagner, the departing Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, for her hard work these many years.

 

Dues for 2004/2005: The Board discussed and agreed that the dues for the coming two years should be $30 ($10 for general purpose and $20 for emergency preparedness). The LTWCA will collect dues at the picnic and through District Representatives.

 

Emergency Preparedness:          Jamie gave a report on her and Dave Smernoff’s efforts to assume Carol’s responsibilities as Emergency Coordinator. One of their first tasks was visiting our two containers (at the Hunner home and Pony Tracks Ranch) to take an inventory. They will be calling on volunteers to check the containers every six months or so to count and replace stored items. Jamie also told us that the next community wide emergency drill is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on October 25, 2003. It will be a wild fire drill and, like the earthquake drill, will challenge residents with emergency simulations. Jamie also mentioned that she and Dave are in the process of collecting data on community resources, such as medical skills and materials. Thank you, Jamie and Dave, for undertaking this important effort!

 

The next LTWCA meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on November 12, 2003 at 21 Old Spanish Trail.
