Los Trancos Woods Community Association
Minutes of the Meeting of the Board

March 8, 2006, 7:05 p.m.

Attendees:    Nelson Dake, Julie Duncan, Linda Drey-Nightingale, Michael Glenn, David Smernoff, Arthur Nielsen.  Michael led the meeting.

Public Comment: None.

Emergency Preparedness:  Arthur reported on three items:

        1.  The annual CERPP earthquake drill is scheduled for Friday, April 28, at 7 PM.  Arthur noted that this drill will be in the evening, and that he will contact Woodside Fire for more information about logistics.

        2.  Arthur and Michael updated the Board about the neighborhoodŐs two medical kits. Both contain a number of items that require updating, and Michael volunteered to do an inventory. Jamie has previously volunteered to buy replacement supplies once a complete list is compiled. Michael Glenn will continue to hold one medical kit, and Marc Levaggi will hold the other once it has been updated.

        3.  Arthur updated the Board about the stock of supplies in the emergency preparedness shed at Pony Tracks Ranch. Specifically, a group of volunteers replaced the emergency water supply, which is currently 400 gallons. Bill Tagg, the Vista Verde coordinator, will follow up with replacing expired food stocks at the shed, and communicate to the Board what LTWŐs share of the new supplies will cost. Linda suggested that expired foodstuffs could be offered to a volunteer organization she knows, and Arthur said he would contact Bill Tagg to suggest that alternative.

District 2 Dues:  Nelson reiterated his desire to conduct an experiment in District II and send out self-addressed, stamped envelopes to residents the next time we have to collect dues, and the Board agreed.

2006 LTW Directory:  After discussion, the Board agreed that the 2006 LTW Directory would be prepared and distributed in late summer, probably in August, after information updates at the neighborhood picnic.  New phone trees will be prepared at this time as well.  Michael volunteered the use of his copy machine and paper, which the Board gratefully accepted.

TreasurerŐs Report:  Julie delivered the TreasurerŐs report.

Newsletter:  Linda informed the Board that the deadline for articles in the next newsletter is March 25, for distribution in early April.  Topics will include:

-- An update on the Water BoardŐs activity, from David Smernoff.

-- Thanks to our neighbors who participated in the recent broom pull.

-- An announcement about the April earthquake drill and other emergency preparedness topics, including forthcoming CERPP training classes.

-- An appeal for hikers to stop hiding little trinkets on the trails, evidently for some sort of ongoing treasure hunt.  Michael showed the Board a bag full of objects he has collected recently, which included glass beads, steel ball bearings and plastic toy animals. David affirmed that he also frequently sees similar objects on the trails. In addition to observing that these objects simply do not belong on the trails, the Board discussed that a misplaced glass object could focus sunlight and start a fire during the dry season.

Next Meeting: The next LTWCA meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on May 10, 2006 at 1074 Los Trancos Road.  Julie will lead that meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted, Arthur Nielsen, Acting Secretary.
