Los Trancos Woods Community Association

Minutes of the Meeting of the Board

March 21, 2007 7:00 p.m.

Attendees:    Ellen Ashley, Nelson Dake, Michael Glenn, Peri Nielsen, and Jamie Sovereign. Peri (in ArthurÕs absence) led the meeting.

Public Comment: None.

TreasurerÕs Report: None.

Emergency Preparedness: There will be a wild fire drill on April 28, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Jamie said the focus will be Òcommunication and evacuation.Ó There will also be an animal rescue exercise. The Board discussed the general problem of inadequate reception and interference when using two-way radios. The Board asked the Emergency Preparedness group to investigate the possibility of installing a base station or stationary antennae to address the issue.

Rezoning Proposal: Peri reported on the recent efforts to implement the rezoning proposal submitted to the County in May 2003.

Approximately two weeks ago, Linda Drey-Nightingale, Armin Staprans and Peri met with Lisa Grote at the CountyÕs Planning & Building department. They gave Ms. Grote some background into the rezoning effort, the process undertaken to address the CountyÕs requirement that the community achieve a ÒconsensusÓ to rezone and the end result, namely a rezoning proposal that was backed by a majority of Los Trancos WoodsÕ property owners. They then requested that the County move forward with adopting the requested revisions to the zoning ordinance.

Ms. Grote said she would send a letter to the community residents giving a background and notifying them of a public meeting to be held approximately four to six weeks from the date of the letter to discuss the proposal. After the public meeting is held, the County could move forward with adopting the proposed revisions. Ms. Grote said she would send a draft of the letter to Linda in two weeks. Peri did not know if Linda had received such a draft to date. The Board asked that it be kept apprised of developments by email.

Newsletter: A request was made for newsletter items. Arthur will be writing up something about the upcoming wild fire drill. Michael informed the Board that people were continuing to leave objects (e.g., marbles, dolls, feathers) on the trail. The Board discussed what could be done to address this problem. A suggestion was made that, in addition to a newsletter article, people be asked to confront anyone they find placing these items on the trail and inform them that these items are Òtrash, not treasure.Ó

Vista Verde Community Association: The Board discussed and agreed that efforts should be made to attend the Vista Verde Community AssociationÕs meetings and vice versa. Ellen said she would find out the date of their meetings.

The next LTWCA meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on June 13, 2006 at 1074 Los Trancos Road. Peri (in ArthurÕs absence) will lead that meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.

Respectfully submitted, Peri Nielsen, LTWCA Secretary.
