Minutes of the Meeting of the Board

August 8, 2007 7:00 p.m.

 

 

Attendees:    Linda Drey-Nightingale, Julie Duncan, Arthur Nielsen, and Peri Nielsen. Linda led the meeting (which was conducted telephonically).

 

Picnic: Linda contacted a speaker (an arborist). The Board agreed to offer him an honorarium ($60) for his attendance. The location of the picnic will be at Armin Staprans’ property at 179 Los Trancos Circle at 3:00 to 6:00 pm. The Board agreed to a budget of $150. The Board suggested the following delegation of duties:

 

Armin will provide the tables, trash cans, an ice tub and barbecue equipment (subject to his willingness).

Linda, Armin, Nelson and Rebecca will provide chairs/benches.

Peri and Arthur will provide ice.

Rebecca will provide beer and water.

Julie will provide name tags and markers, plates and napkins.

Arthur and Julie will provide copies of the emergency preparedness survey for new residents.

Julie will staff the table and will obtain last year’s flyer from Jamie.

Peri will make an appeal for new people to join the Board. The Board discussed considering restructuring the Board to allow for fewer people with more direct responsibilities.

 

Zoning Update: Peri gave an update on the rezoning amendment, which came before the San Mateo Planning Commission this morning. The Commission unanimously approved the proposal for recommendation for adoption by the County Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors hearing will occur on September 11.

 

SOD Task Force: Linda reported on the SOD Task Force. The message is to trim Bay trees away from the Oak trees. The Board agreed that community involvement was required for this effort.

 

Emergency Preparedness: Arthur reported that the next drill is on September 28. It will be an earthquake simulation at night, and the phone tree will be activated. He will distribute some materials into mailboxes a week or 10 days beforehand. He volunteered to distribute the picnic materials simultaneously. Arthur said that the main effort was to get people to become familiar with the phone tree. Julie suggested having copies of the phone tree available at the picnic. The Board agreed this was a good idea.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Julie gave the report.

 

The next LTWCA meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on October 10, 2007 at 124 Los Trancos Circle. Peri will lead that meeting.
